Gian Carlo Caselli incontra i volontari del campo
As an observer from the EVS project, I found the camp very informative. Regardless of not having the mafia culture in England, dealing with pessimistic influences is done the same way. The society has the responsibility of working with the right authorities to bring justice to our communities. Fear is an emotion that should be reduced and courage is a fundamental tool to aid with such issues.
During this project it was observed that there were the different fears, among the youngsters, like the fact that they are not treasured by the society, lack the right tools to deal with various issues around them among which was their government, feel that, apart from voting, they cannot do much due to the lack of attitude to follow what is happening around them… moreover, the formation was not given in other levels such as community participation, the hierarchy of power does not include them and information is lacking to give them the right knowledge and seems that there is lack of courage and are petrified by the future since most do not have jobs and can’t see any prospects in the horizon.
The formation done during these ten days started with the history and remembrance of two magistrates who faced their death in the hands of the mafia. The constant reminder of what has being confiscated, discovered and the teams working against such injustices should give the youngsters, especially of Italy, the knowledge to take an active role in participating in the society actively.
Crying for what has already happened and the people we have lost will not make the situation any better, we should use this sensitivity and emotions to divert it to dealing with the issues at hand. Formation, knowledge and respect for the society can aid the start of an organised system of participation and prospects for a brighter tomorrow.
The mafia is just among other issues that have to be dealt with, if the society is not sending the right message to the young ones the present and future is doomed, as an old country it is inevitable to teach what has already being discovered but yet to be put into practice.
The Mafia culture is what has made Italy popular in the past and it has created the sense of being for the Italian society in the world but at present it is threatening our well-being, natural resources and future, this can only be stopped by us we are the present and future.
Rain is wet is an obvious statement but sometimes it’s the obvious that needs to be insisted upon to get some action. I am confident that the camp pushed the right buttons to the different participants and since they come from different regions it could be the start of a positive bush fire.

In qualità di osservatore del progetto SVE, ho trovato il campo molto istruttivo. Indipendentemente dal non avere la cultura mafiosa in Inghilterra, chi si comporta con autorità negativa è fatto nello stesso modo. La società ha la responsabilità di collaborare con le autorità per portare giustizia alle nostre comunità. La paura è un’emozione che deve essere ridotta ed il coraggio è uno strumento fondamentale di aiuto per questi problemi.
Nel corso di questo progetto ho notato che vi erano diverse paure tra i giovani, come il fatto di non essere apprezzati dalla società, di non avere gli strumenti giusti per affrontare diverse tematiche intorno a loro, tra i quali il governo del paese; ritengono che, oltre dal voto, non sia possibile fare molto a causa della mancanza di attitudine a seguire ciò che sta accadendo intorno a loro. Inoltre, la formazione non viene data in altri livelli, come la partecipazione della comunità, la gerarchia del potere non li include e le informazioni non danno loro la conoscenza giusta e sembra che ci sia mancanza di coraggio; sono pietrificati dal futuro poiché la maggior parte di loro non ha un lavoro e non vede alcuna prospettiva all’orizzonte.
La formazione effettuata durante questi dieci giorni è cominciata con la storia e la memoria di due magistrati morti per mano mafiosa. Il richiamo costante di ciò che viene confiscato e scoperto e le squadre di lavoro contro queste ingiustizie dovrebbero dare ai giovani, in particolare italiani, la consapevolezza di poter assumere un ruolo attivo nella società.
Piangere per ciò che è già accaduto e per le persone scomparse non migliora la situazione; dovremmo usare questa sensibilità e queste emozioni per affrontare le questioni a portata di mano. La formazione, la conoscenza e il rispetto per la società possono servire per un inizio di un sistema organizzato di partecipazione e per prospettive di un futuro migliore.
La mafia è solo una tra le tante questioni che devono essere affrontate; se la società non sta inviando il giusto messaggio ai giovani rischia di condannare il presente e il futuro, come un paese vecchio. È inevitabile insegnare ciò che è già stato scoperto, ma serve imparare anche ciò che è ancora da mettere in pratica.
La cultura mafiosa è ciò che ha reso l’Italia famosa in passato e ha creato l’idea comune della società italiana nel mondo, ma attualmente sta minacciando il nostro benessere, le risorse naturali e il futuro e questo può essere fermato solo da noi che siamo il presente e il futuro.
“La pioggia è bagnata” è un’affermazione ovvia, ma a volte è proprio sull’ovvio che bisogna insistitere per ottenere una reazione. Sono fiduciosa perché il campo ha toccato i tasti giusti nei vari partecipanti e dal momento che provengono da diverse regioni potrebbe essere l’inizio di un incendio positivo.
